I recently found a copy of the brilliant 2-page b&w changing to color through the gutter – what an AD!!!It changed the image of NDC.Judy, the representative of that big plastics industry magazine, told me later she almost peed in her pants when I gave her the order for that ad. As I recall you had the idea of going from b&w to color – to save money and to increase the drama/punch/attention getting, etc.Bert [company president] was so proud – he got a lot of calls from competitors and magazine publishers congratulating him for his achievement.I will give Bert lots of credit.When I walked into his office and said I wanted to spend X thousands of dollars for an ad to be placed simultaneously in X number of magazines (it was a LOT of money for NDC at the time) — he was a bit taken aback.But when he saw the mockup of the ad, and the plan to maximize NDC’s exposure in a big way, and the audacity of a two-page ad he simply leaned back in his chair and said, “Do it.” The “just a cheap gamma gauge built in a garage shop” image was buried forever. You created a real winner!!
